The primary purpose of the role is to oversee and coordinate compliance assurance programs for company's operating facilities, with emphasis on programs for compliance ! with clean air regulations, and development and maintenance of our environmental management system (EMS). This entails managing staff and resources to facilitate the identification of statutory and regulatory requirements as well as the development of programs to ensure compliance with those requirements: Maintain all necessary environmental permits, orders, and other legal, regulatory or customer requirements, including monitoring performance against all permit conditions at company operating facilities. Assure all required regulatory and permit-required reports are accurately completed and submitted on time. Identify the permitting requirements and obtain the permits necessary to support expansion and process improvement projects. Develop, conduct and/or assist with periodic regulatory compliance audits at company facilities. Assist steel industry customers with due diligence auditing of company facilities. Establish a relationship and maintain frequent contact with regul! atory agency staff at all levels. Monitor legislative and regu! latory developments, advise operations of the expected impact, and adjust compliance programs to meet new/changing requirements. Work closely with other environmental staff. Work with counsel on compliance and enforcement issues. Work with engineering department on operations modifications and installations to ensure environmental considerations are addressed. Help train, and supervise and serve as a resource to facility personnel with environmental responsibilities. This role will have some health and safety responsibilities as well.
Job Requirements: Education: Process or Engineering background preferred. BA/BS degree in Environmental Science, a closely related field, or equivalent experience. Experience: 8+ years of technical experience in developing and maintaining environmental compliance systems directly related to CAA, RCRA, CWA, CERCLA, EPCRA and all other major environmental programs in a chemical or process industry setting. Experience with clean a! ir regulations as well as developing and implementation of environmental management systems is strongly preferred. Working experience with ISO 14000 a plus. Experience with Title V permitting and compliance required. Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) preferred
