Job Summary:
Sonos is looking for a talented and experienced IT Software QA Manager. There primary objective for this role is to hire, train, and manage a small group of A+ test engineers to accommodate the test needs of our Applications Development Team. The secondary objective will be to improve test automation tools and functionality, across all applications. The candidate must have a proven track record of acquiring and developing talent, as well as experience testing ecommerce systems, OLTP, data warehouse, WWW, API, finance and ERP systems.
The ideal candidate is resourceful, hands-on, results driven, and able to generate creative quality assurance solutions for a diverse set of challenges. The position requires exceptional team building and leadership skills, deep knowledge of traditional test methodologies and tools, and the ability to multi-task while remaining extremely organized and focused on the details.
Responsibilities:
- Hire and develop small group of technical test engineers.
- Design and implement test strategy for Sonos’ Internal Business Applications (ecommerce systems, OLTP, data warehouse, finance, ERP, and WWW).
- Drive adoption of appropriate tools and processes to accommodate diverse set of test challenges.
- Own the performance management for all direct reports
- Define per program test goals, create test schedules, manage team resources, delegate testing tasks.
- Capture, analyze, and summarize test results. Translate test results into risk assessment. Communicate risk to internal stakeholders.
- Ensure proper defect tracking methods (optimize and enforce).
- Review, update, and expand internal instructional documentation.
- Focus on continuous improvement initiatives. Implement and drive internal metrics to identify opportunities for improving team efficiencies and effectiveness.
- Mentor team members in both empirical testing skills and leadership responsibilities.
- Help to drive automation initiatives. Augment existing test automation suites on several different platforms.
- 3 - 5+ years of experience as an IT Software QA Manager for Business Applications.
- 10+ years experience in Software Quality Assurance or technical testing role.
- Strong knowledge of SDLC (agile, waterfall, etc)
- Significant experience testing enterprise applications in a C# .NET environment
- Experience interacting with and managing technical relationships with key company partners.
- Understanding of standard quality assurance methodologies (direct, negative, stress, duration, usability, ad hoc, halo, regression, and bounds testing).
- Experience with web automation test tools (Silk, Winrunner, Selenium, Applescript, etc.)
- Experience using and testing applications on Linux/Unix, Windows, and Mac OSes.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- A lover of digital music and consumer electronics.
- BS/BA in Computer Science or related discipline.
- Experience with some or all of the following languages and technologies: C++, Perl, Python, PHP, XML and XSL, Web Services (preferably SOAP based), JavaScript, Unix\Linux shell scripts.
- Basic understanding of home networking: TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, 802.11x wireless protocol, home routers.
- Experience with release engineering activities (build management, release documentation, source control and archival).
- Experience with usability testing and pre-release programs (alpha/beta acceptance testing).
- Working knowledge of any of the following foreign languages - Spanish, French, Italian, German, Swedish, Dutch, Japanese, Chinese
