We are looking for a Head of Direct Freight Operations to develop, innovate and drive the FTL and LTL business in the UK & IE Cluster. The successful candidate will be integral in transforming the UK & IE into a leading Cluster using Digital Platforms to deliver efficiencies and excel in customer service.

Location: UK or IE. Will involve travel across the sites and some travel to mainland Europe

What will you be doing?

  • Promote and develop innovative digital platforms including D4S (Drive4Schenker) to drive efficiency and develop a leading European market platform
  • Manage Direct Freight Budget and financial result (EBIT) in UK & IE and develop top-line growth, CM1, and EBIT
  • Develop skills within and assist key branch-level usage of digital platforms (e.g. D4S)
  • Collect and report customer and carrier feedback on the customer experience for platform development to the RHO Direct Freight function
  • Identify effects and improve transaction efficiency through digital platforms (e.g. D4S)
  • Support market research and identification of potential partners
  • Improve Direct Freight efficiency
  • Roll out Schenker application (RB STAR EU)
  • Realise productivity gains, standardisation, back-office efficiencies, and improved reporting
  • Define local requirements for the digital platforms in alignment with the Direct Freight function and IT management

About You

  • Solid understanding of the Land Transport landscape across Europe including FTL/LTL, System Freight, and Intermodal
  • Previous experience with P&L responsibility of a Direct Freight operation
  • Knowledge of Freight Exchange platforms and transport technologies
  • Technical knowledge of ADR, Pharma, Healthcare carriers, and Automotive experience
  • Proven history of delivering operational and commercial results
  • Proficient in the use of MS Excel and the full MS Office
  • Excellent analytical and review skills to interpret data
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders to drive alignment and collaboration
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills (internally and externally)
