Job Function:
The Assistant Provost is a full-time, exempt position re! porting to the Vice Provost. This position works with the Provost and Vice Provost on the management and leadership of Academic Affairs, including undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs, academic support services, and public programming. The Assistant Provost provides high-level administrative support and project management for academic strategic priorities and critical academic initiatives and processes, and represents the Provost and the academic interests of the College both on campus and off.
Responsibilities:
- Assists the Provost and Vice Provost in advancing academic strategic priorities, such as student success, educational assessment, faculty development, academic planning, and institutional effectiveness.
- Provides high-level administrative support for critical academic initiatives and processes, including institutional accreditation, program review, budget planning, administrative systems, student fellowship ! and award selection, and preparation of complex documents and ! website content.
- Serves as the Provost’s Office liaison to core academic programs and support services.
- Interface with all academic programs and other College offices and departments. Collaborate with the Office of Student Affairs on educational initiatives and student issues.
- Represents the Provost and the academic interests of the College, when necessary, on College committees, at campus events and community functions, and at intercollegiate and national meetings (e.g., AICAD, NASAD, CAA).
- Performs other duties and tasks assigned by the Provost and Vice Provost that are specific to the position.
Graduate degree required (MFA preferred). A minimum three years’ experience in academic administration. Demonstrated interest in the visual arts. Understanding of faculty concerns and issues in an academic setting, and the ability to work effectively with a highly diverse faculty, staff, and student body! . Demonstrated leadership capabilities, and the ability to facilitate meetings, problem- solve, and build consensus. Outstanding organizational, project and budget management, interpersonal, and writing/communication skills. Professional achievements in one or more of the disciplines taught at the College preferred.
