Solar Energy:

The Commissioning Team:
The Commissioning Team consists of: a manager, a mechanical engineer, an electrical engineer, and an I and C engineer. The I & C engineer is responsible for commissioning the control systems for the Solar Steam Generator product. The major controls areas are tracking control, to ensure that the focused solar power is delivered to the receiver boiler tubes, and process control, to ensure that delivered steam conditions are at the customer's specifications. Tracking capability relies on highly accurate knowledge of solar position, reflector field geometry, and optical optimization techniques. Process control ranges from simple PID control to feed forward and parameter estimation to state of the art Model Predictive Control and other advanced algorithms. The I & C engineer will need to have expertise in IT systems, networking, instrumentation, software development, advanced controls design, optics, and thermal hydraulics.
Job Description:
AREVA Solar, a leader in Solar Thermal Technology, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Commissioning Group.
This individual will play have an important role in ensuring the mechanical systems success for global projects. The mechanical Engineer will be engaged in all aspects of the Commissioning Group's responsibilities.
Responsibilities and duties include:
Focused on commissioning: structures, reflectors, piping and boilers.
Involved in the troubleshooting and documentation all of the mechanical systems.
Involved in the commissioning of upcoming projects in Southwest US, India, and Australia, as well as training local staff on the controls system and commissioning process.
Qualifications
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. 5+ years designing mechanical components and systems.
Familiarity with CAD (Solidworks) and document control systems.
Analysis with finite element software.
Managing product development projects and managing outside resources.
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
Experience commissioning solar thermal power plants.
Experience in solar thermal industry.
Experience with power generation systems.
Experience with safety standards.
A self-starter who can work independently and also thrive in a dynamic team environment.
Ability to direct and lead other technical employees; strong customer support skills.
Track record of successful project commissioning completion.
TRAVEL
Sporadic (30-50%) domestic and international travel to project sites, including the existing Kimberlina Solar Power Station in Bakersfield, CA. Project sites may be worldwide and are likely to include India and Australia with associated international travel.
