Job Summary:
Pending funding, the Sport Management Program at the University of San Francisco invites applications for a full-time tenure-track or term position at the Assistant Professor level to begin in the fall of 2013.

Program: The Sport Management Program is a Master of Arts Program designed to serve the needs of today’s working students. The 36-unit/23-month interdisciplinary graduate curriculum is offered at the main USF campus in San Francisco and at our Los Angeles area program in Orange, California. The program serves graduate students interested in advancement and management opportunities in professional sports, intercollegiate and amateur athletics, fitness and sports resorts, and the sports marketing, management, and communications firms that service the larger marketplace. The San Francisco and Los Angeles areas boast a rich market of entertainment and technological enterprises that impact the substantial sports industry in both locations. This provides ample opportunities to be directly involved at the forefront of innovation in the sports industry.

Job Responsibilities:
Teaching responsibilities will include the master’s level course in sport marketing and one other area, inter alia, such as: business development and sales, sport law, accounting and budgeting, research methods, or master’s project (a capstone course of individual research projects). Courses are eight weeks long, meeting one night per week. The teaching load is 18 units per year for the tenure-track position, which is six 8-week courses per year (a total of 48 class meetings for the year). Sixteen (16) of those class meetings are in Orange County, CA. The term position teaching load is 24 units per year, but no research requirement.

Minimum Qualifications:
Qualifications (tenure-track position) include university teaching experience; evidence of a strong commitment to teaching; evidence of a strong research program; a Doctorate in Sport Management or related field earned by August 2013; experience in the field of sport; experience and willingness to work in a culturally diverse environment; and an understanding of and commitment to support the mission of the University.
