Who We Are:
The Modern Classrooms Project is a fast-growing nonprofit organization that empowers educators to build classrooms that respond to every student’s needs. Founded by two award-winning teachers, we lead a movement of educators in implementing a self-paced, mastery-based instructional model that leverages technology to foster human connection, authentic learning, and social-emotional growth.
To date, our free online course and Virtual Mentorship Program have empowered 60,000+ educators in 150+ countries. We’ve partnered with 200+ schools and districts to train and support both teachers and administrators, and researchers from Johns Hopkins University found “overwhelming positive support” for our approach. We are an ambitious, idealistic team and we are passionate about what we do.
Why We Need You:
Data drives everything that MCP does. We use data to find partners and donors, recruit educators, deliver high-quality training and support, and measure our impacts. We store the vast majority of that in Salesforce.
As we’ve grown, so too has our need for Salesforce support. Almost every member of our fast-growing team relies on Salesforce for the information they need. That might mean finding a way to get new data into Salesforce, analyzing and visualizing data that’s already in Salesforce, or both - or something else entirely! It might also mean training the staff member who’s asking, so that they can become more confident using Salesforce as well.
That’s where you come in! We need you to:
-
Support with the maintenance and development of our Salesforce database.
- Respond to internal staff requests for Salesforce information and training.
We aim to better serve educators, through the careful use of data, every day. As our Salesforce Specialist, you’ll help us do that.
What You’ll Do:
You will report directly to MCP’s Salesforce Administrator, who oversees all elements of MCP’s Salesforce instance. This is a grant-funded, 1-year position that will expire at the end of the stated term. Based on performance and our growth, there may be opportunities at the end of the stated term to move into a full-time, permanent position.
In this role, you will:
- Run reports, build dashboards, and use other techniques to answer staff questions about data stored in Salesforce.
- Use forms, integrations, imports, and other methods to collect new data in Salesforce.
- Implement flows and other automations in Salesforce.
- Train staff in basic Salesforce operations: running reports, navigating dashboards, etc.
- Manage data cleanliness by conducting audits, cleaning and organizing data, and importing data.
- Support the Salesforce Administrator in building new data systems (objects, fields, etc.).
- Supports the connection of Salesforce integrations with other platforms.
You’ll spend your days making sure that MCP has the data it needs to empower every educator.
You Should Apply If:
-
You love organization. You’re obsessed with putting everything into its proper place, in the proper way. You value clean data and clear processes. When something is too messy to use, you feel compelled to make it usable.
-
You’re a problem-solver. When someone has a question, you figure out a way to answer it. You’re always on the lookout for ways to make others’ lives easier and more efficient. You’re self-sufficient, but you know how to ask for help, too.
-
You like supporting colleagues. Everyone needs data, so everyone needs you. You take pleasure and pride in answering your colleagues’s questions, or teaching them skills they didn’t possess before. When the team succeeds, you succeed.
-
You’re eager to learn. You relish the challenge of mastering a new platform or system, and using it to empower others. You’re experienced and highly skilled using databases. When you don’t know how to do something, you figure it out.
- You want to shape the world. You’re motivated to be part of something larger than yourself. You believe that the highest value of your talent is using it to empower others. You care about your legacy. You realize that this job won’t pay what the private sector can, and you’re okay with that.
Job Requirements and Skills
- Basic understanding of Salesforce or similar data management system, and ability to perform basic data system tasks. Note that certification or licensure in Salesforce is not required.
- A love of data cleanliness, organization, and system management.
- Understanding of data integrations, report development, and /or dashboard development.
Compensation and Benefits: We offer a competitive compensation package, as well as the opportunity to work in a fast-growing nonprofit that is on a mission to improve education worldwide. This includes:
- Salaried Position: $70,000+ per year
- Employer-sponsored health insurance through CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield
- Participation in Vanguard 403(b) deferred-compensation plan
- Generous Paid Time Off policies
- Ability to work remotely and to set own hours (within reason)

We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, disability, age, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, or ethnicity. We are strongly committed to hiring a diverse team and encourage applications from traditionally under-represented backgrounds.
COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY, EQUITY, & INCLUSION: We are committed to the work of diversity, equity, and inclusion so that every day, in every classroom, every student is seen, challenged, and supported. We recognize the impact of educational inequities, especially on historically underserved communities, and will be intentional in developing practical solutions that remove barriers to student achievement. We understand that to effectively promote change, we must be stewards of it in the workplace. We will ensure that diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the forefront of our decision-making, recruiting practices, organization policies, advancement opportunities, and treatment of each other. Through leading by example and continuous learning from teachers, community partners, and each other, we will establish MCP as a leader in developing equity and inclusion in the classroom and beyond.
