JOB SUMMARY

As a Field Support Service Engineer, you’ll be reporting to the UK and Ireland Service Manager and will be mainly responsible for the successful execution of Preventative and Corrective Maintenance (PM & CM) activities specific to higher technologies within the SPX Flow product portfolio. You will also lead teams provided by service partners that have been contracted to deliver PM and CM activities.

This is a challenging role where you’ll be expected to already have been involved in the Food and/or Dairy industry in a Corrective Maintenance role or similar in order to quickly fit in the team, learn our standards and fully understand our procedures and processes. You will be supported by a team with a breadth of experience that highly values collaboration and communication to solve any problem.

Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to travel throughout UK and within the EMEA cluster to deliver support activities. It is estimated that around 50% of service activities within UK will require overnight stays away from home.

In addition, due to the type of support provided to our customers, there will be a requirement to work outside normal office hours, including occasionally some weekends. However, this type of work is normally planned in advance, but some reactive and short notice work may be necessary from time to time.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Field Support Engineer will be both responsible for the successful execution of PM & CM activities as well as providing a consultative service to our customers with the goal of growing the contract value stream and improve customer dependency and their experience.

On a day-to-day basis your main responsibilities will include but won’t be limited to:

  • Executing contracted and ad-hoc support activities across the UK, and EMEA cluster
  • Leading larger and more complex support activities including planning, on site leadership, after action review, follow up and feedback
  • Reviewing activities with respect to the Continuous Maintenance of our service partner network across the cluster
  • Accurately delivering detailed technical Service Reports to our customers
  • Working in alignment with the defined Integrated Definition (IDEF) processes for Flow F&B Aftermarket Execution
  • Identifying new opportunities and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
  • Being the primary SPX Flow EH&S point of contact whilst delivering support activities on customers’ sites
  • Delivering data and knowledge to our Technical Services and Customer Support teams to ensure that SPX Flow provides a Word Class Support Service to our customers
  • Delivering training programs to our customers’ people when required
  • Supporting our Customer Support Team over the phone, or through a customer support portal in order to solve customer issues in a prompt and effective manner

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

We are looking for a person for a long-term cooperation, who will both help us grow and also will grow with us.

The ideal Field Support Engineer should be ambitious, able to work unsupervised and must have a strong leadership ability since we envision all of our Field Support Engineers to be independent, agile, customer focused, and natural leaders.

In order to succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • Higher National Diploma in an engineering field, preferably in Mechanical Engineering
  • Extensive and proven experience in delivering mechanical PM and CM activities
  • Knowledge of Hygienic standards and/or Health and Safety qualifications (e.g., IOSH Working Safely)
  • Experience in leading small teams of up to around 5 people on customers’ sites delivering complex maintenance activities
  • Highly computer literate with great level of competence in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ambitious and able to quickly and efficiently generate revenue for SPX clients
  • Have a “challenge and be challenged” mentality
  • Ability to work independently and initiative-taking
  • Detail oriented and customer focused
  • Accountability for performance and zero-tolerance policy
  • Problem solving and decision making
  • Stellar communication skills
  • Fluent English - speaking and writing

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

It would be considered as an advantage and beneficial to us if you also have:

  • Experience/knowledge in electrical or automation engineering
  • Experience working with remote/dispersed teams
  • Experience in the Food processing, Chemical or Pharmaceutical industry
  • Proficient in SAP (or other ERP)
