The Role

As the Senior Logistics Manager for the Aerospace Explosive Ordnance System Program Office (AEOSPO), you will be given the unique opportunity to assist us in providing Defence materiel throughout all stages of the capability lifecycle.

Our Senior Logistics Manager will exercise sound decision making and judgement to provide expert policy advice. You will have in-depth knowledge of the Logistics Management function and are responsible for the development, implementation, compliance and review of policies and procedures relevant to the delivery of complex ordnance and associated ancillaries.

Knowledge of Explosive Ordnance (EO) policies, processes and systems is highly desirable for this vital role that delivers strategic capability outcomes on behalf of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). As such, a strong understanding of Defence logistics practices is an advantage for this role.

Excellent written and oral communication skills are mandatory, as you will be expected to develop, deliver and continuously improve our logistics policies. You must be able to network/communicate at all levels including engaging with outside organisations to achieve AEOSPO objectives.

Note: We will also be looking to establish a merit pool. If a merit list is created, it will be used to fill EMB vacancies only.

Our program office is an integral part of Explosive Materiel Branch and consists of various disciplines including program management, engineering, commercial, logistics, and corporate enabling services. We are located in Canberra (ACT), Penrith (NSW) and Amberley (QLD). Our focus is to acquire and sustain ordnance for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).

Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate would have a strong commitment to working with our team and a broad range of stakeholders to meet legal and regulatory requirements in the logistical management of Explosive Ordnance (EO). The right person for this role will be an individual whom under broad direction and in accordance with established priorities, principles, methodology and work practices, is able to effectively lead our logistics team, in order to develop and maintain a detailed and logical plan to support the delivery of our diverse capability portfolio.

The successful candidate would have an understanding of Defence integrated logistic principles and be able to quickly understand the sustainment of EO to utilise the two current systems operated by the team (COMSARM and MILIS). They will be able to use their initiative to make informed risk based decisions and solve problems.

They will also be expected to support their team members to achieve organisational objectives, whilst continuing to pursue their own self-development goals. The candidate would also be an innovator that is prepared to develop policy and procedures that enable us to do our work more efficiently. The candidate must be able to interpret specific legislation and regulations and be able to apply that knowledge to the ongoing management of EO.

This position will be required to access US export controlled materiel and therefore applicants will be requested to disclose any dual citizenship with another country during the recruitment process. Dual citizens may be subject to further assessment and appointment to this position will be conditional upon approval to access US controlled export material in accordance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
