Location: Palm Springs California

Responsible for maintaining and processing referrals and related support services for staff and physicians in the HIV Health Center clinic.
Referral Specialist must have a vast knowledge and understanding of several types of insurances and specialty that will be process for successful completion.
Detailed - oriented and able to work with persons of diverse populations.
The Referral Specialist should be a self-starter and self-motivated.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinate incoming and outgoing patient referrals to sp! ecialist as requested by physicians in a timely manner.
•! Organized and Document incoming referrals into EMR system.
• Send tasks to appropriate staff members for scheduling of return approved referrals.
• Complete and maintain referral log for incoming and outgoing referrals.
• Track ALL incomplete referrals and follow up with patients or outside resources until services are completed.
• Contact organizations and insurance companies to ensure prior approval requirements are met.
• Maintain accurate records of all client interactions in client services data base in a timely manner.
• Communicate with patients as the main point person regarding scheduling and confirming of designated place of service.
• Other relevant duties as assigned.

TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, ABILITIES
• High School Diploma or Associate of Arts/Associate Science Degree with experience in medical office or 5 years experiences or more required.
• Required knowledge of managed care and private insurances guideless! for referrals.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Understanding and used of CPT and ICD
• Medical Terminology
• Multi-task
• Teamwork orientation
• Customer Service orientated to communicate with outside resources related to referrals.
• Organized and able to manage competing priorities
• Resourcefulness in problem solving
• Able to take and follow through with delegated tasks and accountability
• Experience with physician referral process required
• Knowledge of EHR systems
• Flexible hours and/or shift variation may be required
• Bilingual Spanish preferred, but not required.

• Relate to all types of individuals in a non judgmental and professional way;
• Work efficiently and accurately in a fast paced environment with multiple priorities
• Establish and maintain professional boundaries with staff and patients at all times
• Coordinate mult! iple tasks.
• Interface effectively in a team environment with age! ncy staff and volunteers;
• Handle crisis and stressful situations in a calm and respectful manner.

Essential Job Functions:
• Ability to interpret client files and medical charts
• Ability to handle multiple phone lines;

• Ability to operate computer and standard office equipment.
• Effective written/verbal communications skills with all levels of individuals.
