ACT/Custodian - Los Angeles

The ACT/Custodian for the ASPCA Spay/Neuter Clinic in Los Angeles plays an integral role in the operations and maintenance of the clinic. The ACT/Custodian is responsible for the maintenance of the physical cleanliness of the clinic and other ASPCA property including vehicles. The ACT/Custodian also participates in receiving and unloading supplies and stocking ! the clinic. The ACT/Custodians assists with animal care such as walking dogs, feeding and cleaning, and disinfecting animal holding areas. The ACT/Custodian also assists with the sterilization of surgical instruments and the laundering of supplies used at the clinic.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic animal handling as necessary to move patients in and out of holding areas and walk dogs.
  • Clean and disinfect cages and cage doors and other surfaces.
  • Supply food and water for patients as specified by medical staff.
  • Assist in cleaning surgical instruments and preparing them for sterilization.
  • Wet and dry mop, strip, wax, burnish or otherwise clean all tile, concrete and terrazzo where appropriate.
  • Wash lobby and first floor windows.
  • Carpet and upholstery vacuuming, cleaning and extraction.
  • Launder surgical drapes/wraps/gowns and towels/blankets as necessary.
  • Replace light bulb! s.
  • Stock clinic, supply room and bathrooms.
  • ! Move boxes and other materials.
  • Empty and reline trash cans. Collect trash and recyclables. Remove trash and recycling containers out of and into the building.
  • Maintain cleanliness of ASPCA vehicles.
  • Follow all policies and procedures.
Education:
  • High School Diploma required
Knowledge Requirements:
  • Physical capacity to handle heavy moving and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Skilled in use of buffer and extractor
  • Neat appearance
  • Reliable to work assigned shift
  • Basic animal handling skills
Additional Information:
This is a full-time position, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. Weekends may be required. Position may require occasional flexibility and occasional overtime.
