MAJOR DUTIES for

GENERAL ENGINEER, GG-0801-12

·

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an engineer, in performing engineering duties in support of assigned program(s) or engineering functional.

Provides engineering guidance, advisory support and assistance in the areas of specialty engineering, environment, specs and standards, safety, manufacturing, productivity and mission assurance

·

Interprets guidelines and uses judgment and discretion in dete! rmining their intent and applies or revises policies and regulatory mat! erial for use by the program(s)

·

Serves as consulting engineer on all aspects of assigned projects.

Serves on and leads, as appropriate, Integrated Product Teams (IPTÂ's) and working groups composed of various functional disciplines engaged in developing and recommending implementation plans

·

Performs engineering analysis.

Prepares, presents, defends and interprets staff studies to the Program/Functional Chief Engineer, Engineering Director, Program Manager and/or other management officials as required

·

Communicates engineering issues effectively to engineering and management chain of command, and in meetings, conferences, and hearings

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel Systems (DCIPS) position implemented under Section 504, Title V of Public Law 99-569, Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1987, as codified in Sec 1601,! Chap 83 of Title 10 United States Code which sets forth Air Force policies and procedures for DCIPS. This position is in the Excepted Service.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
At least one (1) year of specialized experience

which is equivalent to at least the

(GG/GS-11) or

qualifying pay band or other pay systems.

Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the Scientist and! Engineer field or through the performance of work where the primary co! ncern is General Engineer. The employing agency is responsible for defining the specialized experience based on the requirements of the position being filled.

Examples of specialized experience include knowledge of systems engineering and the disciplines associated systems engineering such as systems engineering plans, tests and evaluation plans, life-cycle engineering, operational safety, suitability and effectiveness plans, specs and standards, national environmental policy act, and programmatic environmental safety and health evaluations.

Extensive knowledge of the acquisition process and contract administration methods, procedures and systems to serve as an advisor to engineering managers on applications and effectiveness in major space systems and associated launch control and support equipment.

Must obtain Certified Acquisition Professional Level I certification in Systems, Planning, Research & Development Engineering (SPRDE) within 2 years of appointment.
