About the Position:
You could experience the best of two worlds by taking advantage of the opportunity to become a Citizen Soldier in the United States Army Reserve Military Technician Program. As a Citizen Soldier, you are employed by the Department of Army as a civilian working a normal full-time workweek with all the benefits available to a Federal service employee to include health and life insurance, retirement and Thrift Savings Plan, and accrual of leave (annual, sick and military). When duty calls, you can proudly put on the uniform as a military service member of the United States Army Reserve and receive the pay and benefits associated with the military assignment. As a member of the United States Army Reserve, you are required to perform military duty one weekend a month and at least fourteen days a year of an! nual training. In your civilian position, you perform work in ! direct support of the US Army Reserve in an administrative, professional or maintenance related position. As a US Army Reserve Military Technician, you are a vital link in the chain of command of the United States Army Reserve and civil service, working with professionals like yourself at locations around the world or as close as next door. As a civilian Military Technician you are one of the most important keys to combat readiness; as an Army Reservist you have the opportunity to perform military duty to defend and to serve your country by performing military duty when needed.

This position is located at: 11th Aviation Command, Aviation Support Facility Los Alamitos, Los Alamitos, California.
ASF Los Alamitos is a small city in Orange County, Calfornia. The population was 11,449 at the 2010 census. The USA Water Polo National Aquatic Center is located on the US Military Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Bse. ! The training base also includes the Los Alamitos Army Airfield.
Description of the working environment: Works mostly indoors in an aircraft hangar with occasional work outside in all weather conditions.

The duties of this position include:
ÂPerforms work order modifications on Night Vision
Goggles
ÂInspects and repairs survival equipment
ÂPerforms preventative maintenance checks on equipment
ÂPerforms operational checks on equipment
ÂTests performance of electronic survival equipment
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Screen Out Element: Ab! ility to do the work of an Aircraft
Survival & Flight Equipment Rep! airer without more than normal supervision.
Applicants must meet the screen out elements to be considered further. To meet
the screen out elements, applicants should document experience in the
following: complete work order modifications on Night Vision Goggles, train
personnel on goggle maintenance, inspect and repair flight survival equipment,
perform preventative maintenance checks and operational equipment checks.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of
competency (knowledge, skills, and abilities) in the following areas:
Ability to perform preventative maintenance
Skill in training personnel
Ability to repair Night Vision Goggles
Knowledge to repair survival equipment
Physical effort: Light to moderate physical exertion is
required in lifting and carrying items weighing 10-50 pounds. May be required
to perform extensive standing, stooping, bending and working! in cramped
positions while inspecting and repairing equipment on an aircraft.
Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside.
The majority of the work is performed inside on work benches or in a storage
area. Occasionally, the work may be performed in areas where dirt, drafts,
noise, and fumes may be present. Works around pyrotechnics. May be subject to
burns, cuts, and abrasions while working on various types of ALSE equipment.

Defense National! Relocation Program (DNRP) will not be authorized.
This position of! fers a $3000 recruitment bonus to individuals who are newly appointed as civilians in the Federal Government. You are considered newly appointed if this is your first appointment as a civilian employee in the Federal Government or if you have a minimum of a 90-day break in service from a previous Federal civilian position. You may qualify with a break in service of less than 90 days only if your previous Federal civilian appointment was a time-limited or not permanent appointment. Your recruitment bonus will be made in two payments. You receive the first payment when you enter on duty, and you receive the second payment on your first anniversary. To accept this recruitment bonus, you are required to make a two year service obligation to the Army Reserve Military Technician Program.
New Army Reserve Military Technicians may be authorized moving expenses to their first official duty station. To be eligible to receive moving expenses, you must be a newly appointed Federal ! civilian employee or have a minimum of a 3 day break in service from previous Federal civilian employment.
