THE POSITION

The Human Resources Department is accepting applications for the temporary, part-time position of Recreation Aide to work at various facilities and park sites throughout the City of Roseville. The normal work schedule will vary between 3 and 8 hours per day and may include evening and weekend work; and performs related work as required.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Under immediate direction, assists in planning recreation programs; maintains recreational facilities; assists in conducting recreation programs and activities; interacts with and assists supervision of youth in games and activities and in proper use of playground apparatus; maintains safety and positive beh! avior of participants; acts as a positive role model/mentor to! youth; renders first aid in cases of minor injury; assists in supervision of facilities; performs miscellaneous tasks as directed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education : Completion of the freshman year of high school and 14 years of age.

Experience: None required. (Job Experience Training certification preferred).

Ability to: Follow oral and written instructions; work cooperatively with others; be neat, orderly and honest; work weekdays, weekends and holidays as needed; interpret policies and procedures; provide own transportation; work with people of all ages.

On a Continuous Basis: Know and understand all aspects of the job and department operations; explain department and program policies and procedures to the public.

Intermittently: During special events may set up booths, hang banners, move tables, carry supplies, etc., with little or no notice depending on the event; twist to reach e! quipment; stand, walk, see and hear with sufficient acuity to successfully perform all aspects of the job; perform simple grasping and fine manipulation; lift light weight (up to five pounds); use telephone and write or use keyboard to communicate through written means.

Working Conditions: On a continuous basis, work outdoors; intermittently travel to various City facilities and park sites in vehicle; may be exposed to dust, noise, moving objects and other vehicles, wet and slippery surfaces, and may be exposed to varying climates and temperature conditions while performing field work.

Li cense or Certificate: May be required to produce medical certification of health when certified for employment. Possession of, or ability to obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications.

SELECTION PROCESS

All applications will be screened by the Human Resources Department for minimum qualifications and forwarded to the Parks and Recreation Depar! tment. Qualifying applicants may be invited to staff assessment and/or ! oral interview. Appointment is contingent upon passing a City-paid pre-employment physical, a drug and alcohol screening test and fingerprint check.
