JOB DESCRIPTION/SUMMARY: Provides ancillary/technical assistance to the Pharmacist in providing medication to patients. Posts and fill orders, dis! tributes and delivers medications as needed, answers telephones; under the direction of the pharmacist. Prepare and fills IV additive solution and medication orders according to prescribed procedures and the observation and direction of the pharmacist.

Essential Functions:

• Knowledge of regulations (State and Federal) as they pertain to the practice of pharmacy.
• Able to aseptically prepare IV drugs/solutions.
• Able to operate pharmacy computer system and electronic equipment.
• Able to refill electronic drug dispensing systems.
• Understands the practice of unit dose systems.
• Able to perform mathematical equations pertaining to the safe dispensing of medications.
• Able to effectively communicate with other staff members.
• Knowledge of drug names, brand and generic and available dosage forms.
• Able to manipulate needles, syringes, and IV solution.
• Adheres to FHSH Quality and ! Service Standards of Excellence.

Additional Abil! ities:
Able to prioritize tasks.
Able to follow instructions and directions from supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Graduate of a technician training program or equivalent years of experience to quality for licensing.

EXPERIENCE:

• Prefer 2 years of experience in a hospital setting.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• Current CA Pharmacy Technician Registration.
• Current Technician Certification preferred, but not required.
