Acquisition Leader, Test Development Engineering
Supply Chain Operations (SCO) is the manufacturing and supply chain partner to Cisco’s Business and Engineering organizations. In this role, one of SCO's focus areas is product lifecycle management, which includes new product introduction, design! and deployment of production test systems, sustaining product! support, and early supply chain strategic planning. Test Development Engineering Operations (TDEO) within SCO deploys engineering, technical, and organizational expertise to help Product Operations collaborate effectively with CDO and deliver on business commitments.
Corporate acquisitions have become a constant “way of doing business†across the corporation. In addition, acquisitions have also increased both in size, and business and technical complexity. Given these facts, effective acquisition support can no longer be handled simply on an ad hoc basis with existing resources. SCO is investing to provide increased acquisition support and focus so that acquired companies are integrated more swiftly and efficiently into Cisco operations, not only now, but in the future.
Reporting to the TDEO Director of Engineering, TDE Acquisition Leaders are responsible for driving acquisition technical and business solutions through process, people and technical le! adership in the Test Engineering functions. Acquisition leaders are also accountable “dotted-line†to Directors, Product Operations (DPO) as needed for acquisitions as they occur in their respective business segments. In addition to acquisition-specific duties, these leaders may also contribute to a wide range of Test operations initiatives improving tools, processes, and methodologies across Cisco.
Specific responsibilities include:
1. Pre-Acquisition Support (where applicable)
- perform technical gap-analysis assessment (identifying needs / opportunities / challenges)
- create technical readiness plan
- plan resource needs
- partner with DPO as interim TDE Manager leading acquisition strategy and execution, including technical assessment and re-release, strategy/execution of acquired products
- serve as technical and process expert to help acquisition acclimation
- ! lead technical acquisition post-mortem analysis, recommend and implemen! t process improvements to improve future acquisition performance
- assist tools and process migration
- assess and ensure technical readiness within functional discipline
- identify and document best practices from acquired team for consideration in DOE processes/tools
- support acquisition integration team as needed
- conduct regular status reports to DOE/DPO
- collaborate with functional peer acquisition leaders
- identify and secure 3rd-party resources as needed to support acquisition integration
- create acquisition role ‘playbook’ detailing acquisition procedures, responsibilities, and collaboration network
- identify opportunities for improving end-to-end Test Development Engineering capabilities at Cisco
- develop and execute on strategies to optimize development tools, processes, and methodologies
- lead and/or support cr! oss-discipline initiatives spanning CVCM, CDO, and Development Partners
Required Background:
- BS, Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent
- MS, Electrical or Computer Engineering or MBA (preferred)
- Experience Depth: 10+ years in developing complex electromechanical products
- Experience Breadth: experience spanning high-complexity/low-volume to low complexity/high-volume products (preferred)
- Familiarity with general and Test Developme! nt-specific Cisco Engineering Processes
- Business acquisition support (e.g. technical gap assessment, on-boarding processes, and post-acquisition assessment)
- Broad experience in Designing and/or Manufacturing of complex electronic products
- Strategic planning and program management
- Experience connecting development strategy with customer experience
- Success in a matrix-managed role
- Proven leadership and technical skills
- Proven cross-functional collaborations skills
- Ability to identify a need, develop a strategy to meet the need and execute a plan to achieve the strategy
- Ability to influence globally dispersed and highly technical workforce
- Identify & drive solutions in ambiguous situations
