Williams-Sonoma has multiple Mobile initiatives in 2012 and beyond. The objective is to leverage the mobile technology and solutions in our stores across all brands. We are seeking a senior technical member with expert knowledge in mobility to design, develop, and support the new mobile applications. Candidate should demonstrate strong technical capability and leadership in mobile technology and his/her ability to guide/mentor others. Candidate should have experience in managing internal and external relationships to gain buy-in and maximize results. He or she will lead and provide guidance to other technical team members in WSI to leverage technology industry best practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Identifies, develops and documents solution designs based on business requirements. Analyzes, designs, configures, codes, tests, debugs and installs large and complex system applications, in accordance with WSI methodologies, technical standards, time and budget estimates. Guides, assists or mentors other team members in analysis, design, configuration, coding, testing, etc. Presents solution alternatives to WSI business partners to support business processes and objectives. Ensures good relationships with multiple WSI business partners, vendors, and other IT groups for successful implementation and support of project and production efforts. Plans, estimates and prioritizes work assignments for self and other team members at each stage of a project. Tracks progress, identifies potential barriers to meeting commitments, and intervenes as needed to eliminate barriers and ensure delivery. Anticipates potential problems and exercises initiative to plan and manage prevention. Resolves or escalates problems inside or outside of own area. Manages risk for both development and production support. Communicates to management on status, problems, issues, and underlying process changes as they occur throughout WSI. Reviews technical work of other team members, ensuring adherence to IT standards. Manages vendors and contractors for specific projects or systems. Manages technical projects or components of larger project. Participates in coaching and employee skills assessment and development. Provides other duties as required.
Requirements/ Qualifications:
BA/BS or equivalent work experience. Master’s is a nice to have 8+ years’ experience in analyzing, designing, coding, testing, installing and maintaining complex applications that includes experience with project management, quality management, and development methodologies. Two years experience in mobile application development in Android, Windows, and iOS environments. Demonstrated ability to instruct, guide and oversee the work of other team members. Demonstrated interpersonal skills. Enough practical experience to train others in decision making, risk assessment, job knowledge, analysis, and project management. Experience with interviewing, skills development, and directing others. Demonstrated planning and organizational skills. Considerable business knowledge, preferably in the retail industry. Technical expertise in data analysis, data design, system design, enterprise application integration, software testing, documentation. Experience with web services integration. Experience with encryption.
