Led by Enrique Arturo Diemecke, a maestro with international credentials, Long Beach Symphony Orchestra (LBSO) is composed of high-quality professional musicians, including some of Hollywoodâs top studio players. Each season the Orchestra delights audiences from the greater metropolitan area and beyond with its Classics series at the Long Beach Performing Arts Center, Terrace Theater, âindoor picnicâ Orchestra POPS! concerts at the Long Beach Arena and a December Holiday concert(s) at the Terrace Theater. It also serves 25,000-plus local students during the school year through its acclaimed music-education programs: full orchestra concerts at the Terrace and in-school ensembles.
LBSO is currently recruiting for a Development Associate to provide department support for all Development activities for LBSO and will report to the Director of Development. Duties and requirements are listed below. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous non-profit experience and a passion for the musical arts.
Job Duties:
- Coordinating donor events and other donor-benefit activities, as assigned. This includes but is not limited to mailing list preparation, invitation mailing, RSVPs, venue relations (in partnership with orchestra operations staff), catering arrangements, and other duties as assigned related to donor event coordination.
- Attends donor cultivation and benefit events, sponsor recognition activities, and related assignments to ensure coordination and setup.
- Maintains current and accurate electronic and hard file records
- Processing, and sometimes drafting, in collaboration with the Director of Development, the Executive Director, and other administrative staff, donor correspondence, gift acknowledgements and related correspondence, and solicitation letters.
- Coordinates and maintains the annual development calendar for all development activities.
- Assists with prospect and donor research, utilizing web-based information sources
- Strong computer skills
- Competency in Outlook, Excel spreadsheets (ex. department budget tracking), Word, and Raiserâs Edge (a must).
- Must have a passion for orchestral music
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with nonprofit gift entry/donor stewardship
