Blockchain Launch
The Blockchain Launch team sits within Onyx by J.P. Morgan and leads and coordinates blockchain and distributed ledger-related projects with partners across J.P. Morgan. We are focused on building for the future. We identify the opportunities that could be impactful for J.P. Morgan and its clients in the next 3-5 years, and build early-stage proofs of concepts and products to meet those trends that we see coming. Blockchain Launch was created to foster a commitment to exploring and deploying distributed ledger technology, and since its foundation we have positioned J.P. Morgan as a leader in the space.

About this role
We are looking for a full stack engineer to build out Digital Identity products within Blockchain Launch, sitting in our newly announced Athens Innovation Lab. We believe that Digital Identity is key to unlocking scale for web3, and can enable entirely new interactions and services. Much of our work centers around privacy-first, portable, self-managed identities, with a strong bent towards W3C Verifiable Credentials. We are looking for like-minded, passionate engineers who want to bring these new identity-based products to life. This role requires a resilient self-starter with a delivery mindset, a team-first attitude, and a passion for solving business problems with innovative technology. You will be required to apply your depth of knowledge and expertise to all aspects of the software development lifecycle, and you will partner closely with Blockchain Launch Product Managers to deliver on our goals.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- You have experience in:
- Building and utilising REST APIs and Opens APIs
- Designing and developing Web apps using JavaScript, Typescript and other backend languages
- Building SDK offerings for external use
- Building and deploying production grade software
- Writing technical requirements
- Working with AWS infrastructure and relying on cloud environments
- Working with Identity proofing frameworks and ideally have experience with W3C VCs & DIDs
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- You are proficient in Solidity/smart contract design, testing, internal auditing, and deployment
- You have knowledge in cryptography and security concepts
- You have worked with various stakeholders such as design, product, and backend engineering teams in an iterative development process
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with various line of business technology teams to design and code robust and performant blockchain-based Digital Identity services & solutions, including credential issuance and verification capabilities, and wallet software.
- Collaborate with development teams to develop integration design and where appropriate prepare estimates on design and development services for integration initiatives
- Work closely with product management to define requirements and prototype and design new features for product users
- Develop high level and detailed user flow diagrams, wireframes, storyboards, mockups and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and functional design
- Design, develop and test software programs including graphic user interfaces, database mapping/connectivity, back-end services and SDKs
About the Payments Innovation Lab in Athens
We recently announced plans for a new office in Athens, Greece, to support our organic growth in the country and to bolster the innovation efforts of our Payments business globally.
J.P. Morgan first opened its doors in Greece more than five decades ago, and today we provide products and services from across our Investment Banking, Payments and Asset & Wealth Management businesses to a number of local and multinational Greek clients.
The new office will house a new Payments Innovation Lab, which will provide research and development to the J.P. Morgan Payments business. Initially, the Innovation Lab will concentrate on the development of solutions around distributed ledger technology, artificial intelligence and cryptography related to payments systems in support of Onyx by J.P. Morgan.
