The Information Privacy and Security Program Manager is responsible for ensuring information systems architecture, configuration, u! se, and functionality are appropriate to safeguard protected health information (PHI) and the information assets of VPH.
This position manages all activities and functions related to the development, implementation, and maintenance of VPH’s information privacy and security program to ensure compliance with VPH policies and procedures, federal and state laws, and industry standards.
The Information Privacy and Security Program Manager is able to work independently without close supervision and exercises independent judgment and discretion.
The position develops, improves, and manages the information privacy and security program.
The Information Privacy and Security Program Manager is relied upon to provide subject matter expertise to all functional areas in the organization. The nature of this position often requires the Program Manager to function autonomously.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop Information Privacy! Security program through establishment of information securit! y governance, technology framework, best practices in IT, and staff education and certification
Develop, implement, and maintain information privacy and security policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Perform periodic information privacy and security risk assessments and audits and formulate risk mitigation plans.
Develop information privacy and security training and awareness.
Evaluate, recommend, and implement systems for detection and prevention of information privacy and security breaches.
Monitor advancements in information privacy and security technology and recommend system and process enhancements to keep pace with advancements.
Evaluate all new systems for compliance with information privacy and security policies and procedures, federal and state laws, and industry standards.
Work closely with the Compliance Officer for continuity with VPH’s compliance program and breach notification requirements.

Maintain current knowledge of federal and state information privacy and security laws and industry standards.
Serves as HIPAA Information Security Official (ISO)
Experience/Qualifications:
Four plus years IT and Healthcare
Experience with MS Office (Word, PP, Excel and Project), Active Directory, Meditech
Education:
Bachelor degree or equivalent
Licensures/Certification:
Security certification required e.g. Certified HIPAA Professional (CHP), Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP), Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS)
Must successfully complete and maintain LA City Fire Card certification at the time of hire or within the first 30 days of employment
