The City of Napa's Public Works Department invites applicants for the positions of Water Treatment Facility Operator Trainee (T2) within it Water Division.

Successful candidates will have:

• Possession of a current valid California T-2 Water Treatment Plant Operator Certificate from the California Department of Health Services or the ability to obtain this certificate with 6 months of hire;
• the ability to work independently and under direct supervision;
• the ability to maintain strict attention to detail throughout the entire shift;
• the ability to exercise good judgment;
• the ability to perform routine treatment plant maintenance;
• the ability to conduct standard laboratory tests of water quality;
• the ability to keep accurate records;
• willingness to work varied shift, including night, evening, holiday and weekend shifts;
• and the willingness to work scheduled and emergency overtime.

Requirements: Equivalent to graduation from high school and completion of coursework necessary to obtain required California Water Treatment Operator’s certification. No experience is required. Some related experience involving laboratory analysis; operation, repair or maintenance of motors, pumps or similar equipment is desired. Possession of a valid Class “C” California Driver’s License and possession of, or the ability to obtain within 6 months of appointment, a valid California Water Treatment Plant Operator’s Grade II Certificate (T2) is required. Candidates with current valid California Water Treatment Plant

Operator Grade II Certificate (T2) are preferred.
